Merge Fields

Merge Fields are a placeholder used within templates or correspondence that automatically pull specific Reservation, Guest or Owner Information. Using Merge Fields allow for the dynamic insertion of personalised or variable content, without having to manually adjust each outgoing template. 

For instance, in a customer email template, you might insert a merge field such as {{first_name}}. When the template is used to send an email, Homhero automatically replaces {{first_name}} with the actual first name of the recipient. For example - “Dear John.”

How can I apply Merge Fields to my Templates? 
You can add merge fields to your templates by following the below steps: 

  1. Click Correspondence > Templates from the Homhero side menu.
  2. Click +ADD TEMPLATE in the top left



    Depending on the type of template you're creating, the button will be located in a slightly different place: 

  3. Email Template: If creating an email template, the Merge Field button is located here: 



  4. SMS/OTA Templates: If creating an SMS or OTA message template, the Merge Field button will be located here:

      Certain Merge Fields are only applicable to certain types of correspondence, for example: 

  1. Under Contacts > Bulk Correspondence and Send Message > You are limited to Contact and Owner Merge Fields, as Reservation Fields do not apply here.



  2. Under Reservations > List > Bulk Communicate > You have full access to Property, Reservation and Integration Merge Fields. But you don't have access to Contact or Owner Merge Fields.


Creating Custom Merge Fields
Homhero has the ability to create custom merge fields, either on a global level, or individual listing level. These can be used when sending out any reservation correspondence inside of the system.
