Homhero's Unified Inbox centralises your communication across guests, owners, cleaners, and OTAs such as Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo - providing a single, streamlined view of all messages and conversations.
Unified Inbox is enabled by default for all new Homhero accounts. However, if you're an existing Homhero user, activation requires a migration of your existing contact logs. This ensures continuity of operations and preserves your historical data within the new messaging system.
The following steps only apply to existing Homhero users switching over to Unified Inbox:
Step 1. Unified Inbox: Pre-screening questions

Step 2. Understanding Unified Inbox Requirements
Homhero Support will contact you regarding the following requirements once you have completed the above pre-screening questions.
- Unified DNS Records - To ensure successful message delivery, DNS records must be configured. This allows your domain to send messages on behalf of Homhero via Unified Inbox.

Dedicated Virtual Number for MMS only (Optional)
Decide whether you'd like to use a dedicated virtual number with MMS capabilities. This is required if you wish to receive images or videos from guests via Unified Inbox.- If you're using a shared SMS number (the default setup for most Homhero accounts), please be aware that guests cannot reply to your outbound messages after 48 hours.
- To avoid this limitation, we recommend setting up a dedicated virtual number.
- Pricing for dedicated virtual numbers: $300 for a 12-month subscription, plus a one-time $50 setup fee.
Step 3. Pre-Migration Checklist
- Setup 'Unified Inbox' DNS Records - Homhero Support will generate the necessary DNS records and send them to you. Please forward these to your IT team or DNS administrator for configuration.
Confirm messaging setup - Confirm with Homhero Support if you would like to use a dedicated virtual number or continue with the default shared SMS number.
Homhero to setup Dedicated SMS/MMS Number (if applicable) - If you opt for a dedicated number, Homhero Support will setup and configure this within your Homhero account.
DNS Record Verification - Homhero Support will confirm that the Unified Inbox DNS records have been correctly set up before proceeding with the migration.
Schedule Migration Date - Once all requirements are met, the Homhero Support team will work with you to schedule a suitable date for your data migration and activation.
Step 4. Migration Process (Homhero)
- On the scheduled migration date, the Homhero development team will begin the initial migration of all message logs to Unified Inbox.
- Once completed, the Homhero development team will cross-check all data to ensure everything has migrated accurately.
- Homhero Support will activate Unified Inbox.
- A final migration will be run by the Homhero development team to pull in any messages missed during the transition.
Step 5. Post-Migration
Once Unified Inbox is enabled:
- All communication will appear in the Unified Inbox.
- You’ll benefit from a full conversation view across all messaging channels.
