In Homhero, you can capture a pre-authorisation on behalf of a guest directly from the Reservation Screen. This will allow you to charge up to the authorised amount taken on a pre-auth. This is available for Merchant Warrior customers only.

Capturing Pre-Auths

  1. Go to your Reservations List in Homhero.
  2. Locate and open the reservation for which you want to capture a pre-authorisation.

  3. Click Payment Options + Capture Pre-Auth.

  4. Click the drop-down arrow to select an Existing Pre-Auth.
  5. You can adjust the pre-authorised amount to be less than the total amount originally authorised, however you cannot increase this amount.
  6. Has Surcharge: Enable this toggle if you would like to add a surcharge to the pre-auth captured.
  7. Email Receipt: This toggle is enabled by default. Turn off if you would like to ignore sending a copy of this receipt to the guest.
  8. Receipt to Owner: Activate this toggle if you would like the payment to be receipted directly to the owner.
  9. Receipt Date: This will default to today's date.
  10. Show outstanding Balance: This toggle is enabled by default. Turn off if you would like to ignore showing the outstanding balance when sending an email receipt.
  11. Notes: Add important notes you would like to leave regarding capturing the pre-auth.
  12. Click Cancel to cancel this process.
  13. Click Submit to capture the pre-auth.

No Pre-Auths Available
When attempting to capture a pre-authorisation, a validation error will appear if none are available for the reservation.

To capture a pre-auth, the following conditions must be met:

  • Pre-authorisations must be captured within 7 days of creation.

  • The pre-authorisation must not have already been fully captured, or the amount to be captured must be less than the remaining authorised total.
