How to add a payment

This article explains how to take a payment on an existing booking in Homhero, shows the default email receipt, and guides you on how to locate the payment within Homhero after the transaction is processed.
 

How to add a payment:

To add the payment please follow the below steps:

  1. Select Reservations, from the Homhero side menu.
  2.  Click on List.
  3.  Double click on the reservation that you would like to add the payment to.
    3A) Alternatively, please enter the reservation ID into the Load reservations text field. 


     
  4. On the Reservation screen, click the Payment Options drop down on the bottom left corner of the reservation panel. 
  5. Click Add Payment.


     
  6. On the 'Add Payment' pop-up, select the card you have added. 
    Note - If you don't have a card added to the reservation, the first step will step 7.
  7. Select the Payment Method. 
    Note - If you have selected a card in step 6, this will default the payment method to that card type. Alternatively, select one from the drop down list. 
  8.  Put in the amount of the charge.
  9. If you have selected a card type payment method, the Include Surcharge toggle will automatically turn on. In the event, you don't want to charge a surcharge, you can unselect it here. 
  10. To send Homhero’s default receipt to a guest via email, turn on the Email Receipt toggle. You can choose whether to display the outstanding balance by toggling Show Outstanding Balance on or off. Below is an example of the Email Receipt.


     
  11. The Receipt to Owner toggle is used when you want the funds going straight to the Owner of the property, the payment taken there wont reflect to the booking. The funds will then go on to the Owner Ledger directly.
  12. Add any notes for this payment taken, these notes are internal and will not be sent to the guest. 

13. Click Submit
 

 

You will be advised if the payment was successful or failed with a pop up message as per below:
 

 

How can I tell if a payment has been taken on a reservation?

There are two ways you can find if a payment has been successfully taken in Homhero. 

Inside the reservation in Homhero:

  1. Open the reservation in Homhero.
  2.  Click Transactions.
  3. Click Payments. 


     

In the Homhero Transactions Tab:

  1. From the left hand side menu in Homhero, click Transactions. 
  2. Click Payments.
  3. Add any applicable filter to help you to find the transaction.
