This article explains how to add a deposit payment on an existing booking in Homhero, what the default receipt email looks like, and where to locate the payment once it has been processed.
How to add a deposit payment
To add the payment please follow the below steps:
- Select Reservations from the Homhero side menu.
- Click on List.
- Double click on the reservation that you would like to add the payment to.
- On the Reservation screen, click the Payment Options drop down on the bottom left corner of the reservation panel.
- Click Add Deposit.

Existing Card - On the 'Add Deposit' pop-up, select an existing card you have added.
Note: If you don't have a card added to the reservation, the first step will step 7. -
Payment Method - Select the Payment Method.
Note: If you have selected a card in step 6, this will default the payment method to that card type. Alternatively, select a payment method from the drop down list. - Amount - Put in the amount of the charge.
- Inc Surcharge - If you have selected a card type payment method, the Include Surcharge toggle will automatically turn on.
- Has Surcharge - If you do not wish to apply a surcharge, you can deselect this option here.
- Email Receipt - To send Homhero’s default receipt to a guest via email, turn on the Email Receipt toggle.
- Show Outstanding Balance - You can choose whether to display the outstanding balance on the payment receipt by toggling Show Outstanding Balance on or off.
- Receipt to Owner - The Receipt to Owner toggle is used when you want the funds to be paid directly to the property owner. Payments taken this way will not be applied to the booking and will instead be recorded directly in the Owner Ledger.
- Card Details - Enter credit card details required for payment.
- Notes - You can leave Notes regarding the transaction here if needed. e.g. Guest will pay final balance by direct deposit.
- Click Submit.
- You will be advised if the payment was successful or failed with a pop up message as per below. Click Ok.
