How to manage Security Deposits by HVMB

Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy has the ability to manage Security Deposits directly, saving you from having to process bonds manually on the Homhero side. This article will explain the relevant settings that need to be updated in Homhero for this to work.

Step 1. Booking Sources
Depending on how you want to setup your security deposit there will be a different outcome when the Exclude Security Deposit setting is used in your Booking Sources. We have added a table below to view all cases when Exclude Security Deposit is ticked/unticked. 

1. Click Settings from the Homhero side menu
2. Click General Settings > Booking Sources
3. Tick Exclude Security Deposit for the HVMB booking source
4. Click Save
   
   
   
   
   

Step 2. Security Deposits
If you do not have a security deposit setup, please follow the steps below:

1. Click Settings from the Homhero side menu
2. Click General Settings > Security Deposits
3. Click Add Security Deposit 
4. Complete Security Deposit details (Amount, Name, Type, Sundry, Days Due Before Arrival)
5. Click Save 
   
   

Step 3. Configure Security Deposit in Property Management
Homhero will choose the security deposit that is configured on the 'Property' or 'Area' of each listing.

Property (Security Deposit will apply to all Areas)

1. Click Property Management from the Homhero side menu
2. Click the Properties tab 
3. Click Edit Property 
4. Select the Security Deposit from the drop-down
5. Click Save 
   
   
   

Area (Security Deposit applies to the Area only)

1. Click Property Management from the Homhero side menu
2. Click the Areas (Rooms/Houses) tab 
3. Click Edit Area
4. Select the Security Deposit from the drop-down
5. Click Save 
   
   
   

Step 4. Set HVMB Security Deposit in global settings

If HVMB is managing the Security Deposit for all listings, you can apply this in your global settings as per the following steps:

1. Click Channel Management > Connections from the Homhero side menu
2. Click the Spanner Icon on the HVMB Connection
3. Click Edit Options (green pencil icon)
4. Click the Booking Settings tab
5. Set Security Deposit by HVMB to Yes
6. Click Save
   
   
   

Step 5. Set HVMB Security Deposit in listing settings

Once your global settings are done, you can also change this setting on a listing level if you have listings with a different setup e.g. do not accept Security Deposits. Any changes made on the listing level will override the global settings.

1. Click Booking Engine > Listings from the Homhero side menu
2. Click the HVMB Icon for the selected listing
3. Click the Booking Settings tab
4. Set Security Deposit by HVMB to Yes
5. Click Save
