Abandoned bookings refer to instances where a guest begins the booking process on your website but does not complete it within the same session. These incomplete bookings are recorded in Homhero under the Abandoned Bookings list. Reviewing this list can provide valuable insights into guest behaviour and help you follow up or improve the booking experience.
Homhero tracks abandoned bookings using browser cookies. These cookies help identify when a guest starts and completes a booking. However, there are a few limitations to be aware of:
- Cookies expire over time and can vary depending on the browser or device used.
- A booking is only marked as converted if it's completed during the same session as when the guest first accessed the booking form.
- If a guest navigates away and returns later (on a different session), or if they are using a cookie blocker, the system will not register the booking as converted. It will remain marked as an abandoned booking, even if the guest eventually books.
Abandoned Booking Notifications
Homhero will automatically send you email alerts to notify you when a guest goes to your website and completes everything on the booking form, however does not proceed with the booking.
How to View Abandoned Bookings
To view your abandoned bookings in Homhero:
- Click Booking Engine > Web Bookings from the Homhero side menu.
- Click the Abandoned tab.
- Use the Search menu to locate a specific booking.
- Use the Listing menu to filter bookings by a specific listing.
- Click the Refresh icon to reload the page.
- Click the Export icon to download your abandoned bookings list to excel.

Issues column: Homhero now stores detailed information on any issues that may have prevented a booking from converting. This includes errors such as 3DSv2 enrollment failures or other technical problems that help diagnose why a booking was not completed.
