Airbnb Host Reviews are an essential part of the Airbnb experience. Both Hosts and Guests have the opportunity to leave reviews after a stay. These reviews provide valuable feedback and helps future guests make informed decisions when booking their holidays. This article will explain how to leave reviews for Airbnb guests directly through Homhero.
Where to manage Host Reviews
Host Reviews refresh automatically every 60 seconds and can be accessed in three sections within Homhero, giving you flexibility in how you manage and track feedback.
-
Dashboard
All pending host reviews are displayed at the bottom of the Homhero Dashboard before the Dashboard Statistics. If there are no pending reviews, the Pending Reviews grid will not be shown.
-
Booking Engine > Reviews > Host Reviews
Host reviews can be accessed directly from the Global Host Reviews page. This is the central hub where you can view and manage all host reviews in one place. It shows both pending and completed reviews across all your listings.
-
Booking Engine > Listing > Reviews > Host Reviews
Each listing has its own Host Reviews page, allowing you to see reviews specific to that property. This is useful for tracking feedback at a listing level.
How to complete a Host Review
Reviewing your Airbnb guest through Homhero involves four stages. These stages cover Cleanliness, Communication, and Respect for House Rules.
Cleanliness
The Cleanliness page is where hosts provide feedback on how well the guest maintained the property during their stay. This information helps future hosts understand the guest’s habits and care for the space.
- Guest Details - The top section provides basic information, including the guest’s name, the property they stayed at, and their arrival and departure dates.
- Airbnb ID - This is a unique Airbnb reservation ID for the guest, ensuring the review is linked to the correct booking. Clicking here will also take you directly to the guest’s Airbnb profile.
- Reservation ID - his is the unique Homhero reservation ID for the guest. Clicking here will take you directly to the reservation screen in Homhero.
- Cleanliness Score - Here, you can rate how well the guest kept the property clean. A high score indicates that the space was left tidy and well-maintained, while a lower score suggests that extra cleaning was needed after checkout. A minimum rating of 1 star is required.
- Positive Feedback (Optional) - In this field, highlight areas where the guest was particularly tidy or followed instructions carefully, such as washing dishes, taking out the garbage, or keeping the space neat and tidy.
- Negative Feedback (Optional) - This section allows you to note areas where cleanliness could have been better, for example leaving rubbish behind or minor messes. Keep feedback factual and constructive.
-
Cleanliness Comment - Use this field to provide a brief summary of the guest’s overall cleanliness. You can balance positive points with any minor issues to give future hosts a clear picture. For example: “The guest left the property generally tidy, with only a small amount of rubbish to be cleared.”
Note: Selecting a 5-star score will remove the Cleanliness Comment field. - Click Next to proceed to the next step of the review.
Communication
The Communication page is where hosts provide feedback on how well the guest interacted during their stay. This helps other hosts understand the guest’s responsiveness, clarity, and overall approach to communication.
- Communication Score - This is a rating of how effectively the guest communicated. A high score indicates that messages were timely, clear, and polite, while a lower score may reflect delays in responses or unclear messaging. A minimum rating of 1 star is required.
- Positive Feedback (Optional) - In this section, you can highlight the strengths of the guest’s communication. Examples include being courteous, providing useful information, or promptly answering questions.
- Negative Feedback (Optional) - Here, you can note any areas where communication could improve, such as slow responses or missed messages. It’s best to keep this constructive and factual.
-
Communication Comment - This field allows you to provide a brief summary of the guest’s communication style. You can mention both positive aspects and minor areas for improvement. These comments may be visible to other hosts, so keeping them balanced and professional is recommended.
Note: Selecting a 5-star score will remove the Communication Comment field. - Click Previous to go back to the prior step.
- Click Next to proceed to the next step of the review.
Respect House Rules
The Respect House Rules page is where you provide feedback on how well the guest followed your property’s rules during their stay.
- Respect House Rules Score - Here, you indicate whether the guest generally followed your house rules. A positive score shows the guest was considerate and respectful, while a lower score signals that some rules were not fully followed. A minimum rating of 1 star is required.
- Negative Feedback (Optional) - This section allows you to highlight any specific rule that wasn’t fully respected. It’s an opportunity to provide context, such as arriving slightly early or not following check-out instructions, without focusing excessively on minor issues.
-
Respect House Rules Comment - In this field, you can add a brief description of the guest’s behaviour regarding your house rules. This can include positive notes, small areas for improvement, or both. Keep comments constructive and clear, as public feedback may help other hosts make informed decisions.
Note: Selecting a 5-star score will remove the Respect House Rules Comment field. - Click Previous to go back to the prior step.
- Click Next to proceed to the next step of the review.
General Feedback
The General Feedback page is where you provide your overall impressions of the guest.
- Public Review - Write comments that will be visible to other hosts. Keep this professional and balanced, highlighting positive aspects while mentioning anything other hosts should know.
- Private Feedback (Optional) - Share comments directly with the guest that are not visible to others. This is a good place for constructive suggestions or small notes for improvement.
- Would you recommend this guest to other hosts? - Indicate whether you would recommend this guest to other hosts. Click Yes or No.
- Click Previous to go back to the prior step.
- Click Next to proceed to the next step of the review.
Review and Submit
The Review and Submit page is where you finalise your host review before sending it.
- Click Previous to go back to the prior step.
- Click Submit Review to send your feedback to the guest.
Submit Review
- A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm your submission. Click Yes to submit or No to return and make changes.

When do Host Reviews Expire?
Host Reviews must be completed within 14 days after the guest’s stay. After this period, they will expire and no longer appear on the Homhero Dashboard, but they will remain visible in the main Host Review grid without the option to open them.
Completing Host Reviews via Airbnb
If the host completes the review via Airbnb, Homhero still receives a copy, but it is view-only. This only applies to new departed bookings. Past host reviews cannot be synced to Homhero.
